Wasabi

New and improved! Don't miss this hidden gem in Avalon. (previously reviewed in November 2011) Simple but neat decor there is only room for about 14 persons inside but a few more tables are outside, with heating if required. The menu is now much more extensive and the food consists of standard Japanese fare - fresh well prepared ingredients. We were given a bonus entree, which was an eggplant in miso sauce. Good way to start. The dishes were well spaced, sizzling hot and neatly presented. Recommend the Donburi chicken katch, it looked so tasty I forgot to photograph it. A deep bowl of rice, with vegetables, slices of fried chicken with an egg cooking throughout. Also had the vegetable gyoza - I usually get the pork gyoza, and still prefer the pork On a whim we also ordered the okonomiyaki - a seafood pancake which was superb. Cost $28 for 2 Rating: Toyota Corolla
